Long Cold Snap winding down

What a week of cold weather here in Pine Ridge at Sugar creek in Hudson, Fl.  This has been the coldest times in atleast a decade for the pennisula and local area as well.  Two straight mornings in the twentys here..Thursday and Friday...23/26 respectively.  The highs have been very low too....48 and 60 degrees F the last two days.

All of that is about to change as we are finally going to some "chamber of commerce" weather for atleast untill next weekend.  I think the worst of winter is over, but keep those plant covers handy just in case.  Temps should be warming up over the weekend with highs in the low 70's and lows only in the low 40's with more normal seasonal temps lows in the 50's to start the new work week and maybe some mid 70's during that time as well.

Reports of lots of ice on peoples cars and lawns and roofs the past few mornings.  If anyone has some shots in the community that would like to share please do so.  Good Weather to you!!

Welcome to the Weather Center of Pine Ridge at Sugar Creek's weather blog.  Feel free to chime or just to say "hi" as well.  All are welcome here always.

Looking at the current weather...it looks like a northern type of day...the only thing that is missing from all this dreariness is the coldness.  There is a good chance of that to come...more on that in a bit.

Currently it is overcast with little breakage in the clouds.  We have a cold front draped over top of us that is slow to move anywhere.  There will be a good chance of rain..well, as good as it gets this time of year as we typically are dry this time...we should have a 30% chance today and 50% or more tomorrow.

Highs will be lucky to get out of the 60s today and probably the rest of the week all the way into the weekend.  The cold front will spawn an associated low tomorrow and that will help push out the clouds and really cool things off.  Depending on where this low forms...will dictate on the rain amounts for the area.  I am thinking no more than half an inch  or less for us unless things stall out again.

With the front out of the way tomorrow...look for clearing skies and a reinforcing front later in the week.  Temps at night starting on Tuesday all the way through the weekend will be close to 32 deg F which is a freeze.  Please take care of yourself if outdoors in the late night or early morning hours, cover plants and take care of pets as well.  This will be the coldest weather we have had since the first week in December of last year.

Thats all for now...will post more as time permits...

After the passage of the cold front

After the passing of the cold front, we have had partly cloudy skies to mostly cloudy skies.  Winds have been gusting up to 20mph today out of the west and northwest. Not alot of rain with the front, only 0.14in recorded, but as the dry season is upon us, all is welcome.

Looks like the temps will not get above 70 today during the day time.  I expect things to clear out later tonight and for the temps to drop rapidly after sundown tonight.
